Passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 11:00 pm in Palmer, AK.
In September Dave was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He was born to Henry and JoAnn Gilbert along with three siblings, Janice, Les, and Cindy in Southern California on March 29, 1951. Dave met his wife, Amparo in 1971 and had just celebrated their 47 wedding anniversary this past December. They had two children. In 1980 He and his family moved to Alaska to began working as a respiratory therapist at Providence Hospital in Anchorage where he continued to work until 2001 when he transferred to Valley Hospital and finally Mat-Su Regional. Dave loved his job and working with patients. Dave enjoyed the Alaskan life; fishing, hunting, archery, making fishing lures, and custom arrows. He was very active in his church as he served on the church board and was part of the worship team were he loved playing the guitar. One of things that he most enjoyed was his grandchildren.
He is survived by; his wife, Amparo Gilbert, daughter Jennifer Minkler and her husband Darin, son, Paul Gilbert and his wife Erin Gilbert, as well as three grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday February 8, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
