The Mat-Su Ski Club and the Colony High School Ski Team will host the 2014 Government Peak Mountain Race/Climb beginning at 10:30 a.m., June 7, at the new Government Peak Recreation Community Center.
The course will run from the Government Peak Recreation Area community center up to the top of Government Peak, about 3.5 miles and 3,500 feet of elevation gain. This is a one-way race/climb for time.
This is an all ages event, and you don’t have to race it. However, there is a cutoff time to get to the top.
Water is generally at the one-third point and at the finish.
Individual entry fee is $30 before May 19, $40 May 19 to June 3, and $50 day of race. Family entry fee is $100 (immediate family only). For family registration, email names, ages, genders for family members to strabel@mtaonline.net. Must sign up before June 3.
