Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Katherine Rose Hickle, 44, died Oct. 15, 2007, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center from pseudo myxoma peritonia, a rare type of cancer.
A family gathering and celebration of her life will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at the family home.
Hickle was born in Minneapolis, Minn., Sept. 6, 1963. She graduated as the salutatorian of her class in high school.
Hickle came to Alaska in 1990. She lived in Wasilla for 15 years and in Palmer for the past two years. She was a homemaker and mom to her two boys. She also had worked at Valley Chiropractic and Larson Chiropractic.
Hickle was a wonderful mom and wife and dedicated to her family. She enjoyed fishing commercially for salmon and halibut. She loved fishing halibut on Prince William Sound on the boats Sebrika and Korelia.
Hickle is survived by her husband, James; sons, Patrick and Lucas; father, Leonard Olander; mother, Sandra Olander; brother Eric (Jennifer) Olander; grandmother, Rose Puchalla; step-daughters, Patty and Donna; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandparents Albin and Opal Olander and Don Puchalla.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
